Paula Gardner – The Savvy Sorter
Professional Organizer and Certified Relocation and Transition Specialist
Some organizers say “they were born to organize”- that organizing came easily to them. As a pre-teen, my friend’s mother “hired” me to encourage her daughter to clean up her room and put things away in an organized fashion.
Other organizers say they “learned how to organize”. In my previous career as a real estate agent, my personal assistant was aghast when she discovered that I ran my successful business with a pile of yellow post it notes attached to the outside of a day timer, and important information written on the backs of napkins, business cards and scrap paper attached in no particular order to an overcrowded bulletin board.
I think the combination of being born to organize others and learning to organize myself has created the perfect “organizing scenario”. Although I innately knew how to organize others, I was too busy in my own personal and business life to organize myself. My life experiences have led me to completely understand and have empathy for my clients who find themselves wondering how they ever got into the state they are in and criticizing themselves for not knowing how to get out of it on their own!
I started A Savvy Solution after many transitions, namely a lengthy career in the social service sector, a longer one as a real estate agent, and then a transition into widowhood at a young age commencing an early retirement filled with volunteer work in the not for profit sector.
When it was time to reinvent myself again, I emerged as ‘The Savvy Sorter” helping people create “visions” for their living and working environments, and guiding them through the process of organizing or reorganizing their bedrooms, kitchens, living rooms, offices, garages, basements and attics.
With the passage of time, I began receiving requests from our boomer, zoomer and senior population and/or families of seniors looking for assistance with all aspects of a transition from finding suitable accommodations for “rightsizing” to overseeing the entire move to assistance settling in to a new environment. That is when I developed A Savvy Solution for Seniors division of A Savvy Solution.
Whether the issue has been a time challenge or a focus challenge or just not knowing where to start or how to start, I have been able to create a strategy to allow people to eliminate chaos and move towards a state of calm. I look forward to having the opportunity to help you meet your goals of order and serenity by developing a customized plan, which will accommodate your individual needs. My certification through the “Move Seniors Program” provided me with skills to offer the best possible service to handle the special needs and family dynamics while overseeing transitions in the senior sector. My approved instructor status in the “Senior Agent program”, a continuing education credit course for Real Estate agents allows me the opportunity to teach real estate agents special skills to make your real estate experience a smooth, comfortable experience.
